We offer work experience in sports journalism - specifically cricket -, graphic design and publishing in general. We expect hard work from our work experience people and you will be fully involved in the business from day one – no making coffees for the boss and doing random photocopying (not least because the boss doesn't like coffee and we don't have a photocopier).
We always get lots of applications for work experience, so if you are interested in working for us, send your CV and available dates sooner rather than later to workexperience@trinorth.co.uk.
From humble beginnings in 2002, TriNorth has grown into an established sports-focused publishing and design agency. All services, including advertising sales, are provided by our in-house team. We have a very strong (we think), creative editorial team and an innovative and engaged design studio and, with a handful of sub-contracted print companies, we pride ourselves on giving clients the best for their money.
Over the years our client list has passed 350 and includes major cricket and football clubs, cricket players, hotels and restaurants, solicitors, banks, community groups and charities. We believe the quality of this client support marks us out from the crowd. We always have a can-do attitude and strive to exceed expectations.
South London's strongest XI
Matt Thacker – part man, part machine, part false teeth – is the driving force behind TriNorth. Ever the optimist, Matt sees the best in all people and situations, unless of course you happen to work for him.
Crazy, possibly sociopathic, genius whose egocentricity combines with an autistic gift for numbers to a) to save the broken lands of the world from tyranny and b) to ensure TriNorth's own freedom fighters are paid roughly on time. He's considering going into politics when he grows up, with Walker as campaign manager. No party could contain him.
Ian has enjoyed watching fresh-faced youngsters age unnaturally at TriNorth since its inception in 2002. A firm believer that all TriNortherners should like at least two things out of cricket, cheese, booze and Liverpool Football Club, his most incredible in-office experience was when a former employee dropped a bottle from the water cooler. It's amazing how much water those things hold.
A paperwork 'glitch' saw Charmeyne join TriNorth in 2004. But, with a keen eye for detail and grammatical errors – the comma is her best friend and worst enemy – she soon proved her worth. When she puts her red pen down she can be found liaising with clients, editorial and design teams, print houses and delivery companies to bring them all together in a blissful union.
Battle-scarred editorial veteran recognisable by the greying sideboards and stubborn beard, Walker is AOC's deputy editor, a position he sometimes enjoys. A deep love of cheese has stood him in excellent stead during five years as a TriNortherner. Likes books, fears snakes. Has been known to take a drink.
Sam joined the editorial team in February 2007 after a life-affirming (aka dispiriting) experience watching England get hammered in the last Ashes series. Since then he has spent most of his time re-discovering his love of cricket, ingratiating himself with 5-star hotels and making puns of varied quality. He writes, edits, project manages and likes to have the last word.
Ed hung around the TriNorth office for so long doing work experience that at least 63 per cent of the staff thought he was employed full-time. He was eventually offered a job out of sheer pity. He does the editorial jobs no one else wants to do and carries anything a bit heavy.
Rob cycles to work in the morning. When he has finished working, he cycles home.
Following an extended trial period, after which time Mark refused to leave, he was allowed to stay. And TriNorth was all the better for it. His fresh ideas are always a talking point with clients, not to mention his yellow shoes... He also has a raft of Powerleague trophies adorning his desk.
Emma fell out of University in July '08 and into the TriNorth offices, where she was picked up, dusted off, and set to work on a plethora of cricketing publications...much to her father's pleasure. She enjoys movies, eating out, long walks on the beach...and comics. Comics, comics and more comics...but not Superman.
Dominic joined the TriNorth commercial team in late 2007, having previously worked with Emap, now Bauer, on Todays Golfer, Golf World and their B2B motoring title Fleet News. Free time is spent playing cricket in the summer, football in the winter, although now managing not playing. Dom is also a qualified cricket ump.
